Special to the Journal
Skilled woodworkers from across Texas are invited to apply to exhibit their best work at the Seventeenth Annual Texas Furniture Makers’ Show presented by Woodcraft® and staged at Kerr Arts & Cultural Center, 228 Earl Garrett St. Kerrville, Texas from October 27 through December 2.
The Kerr Arts & Cultural Center’s newly renovated triple galleries provide expansive spaces for shows like this annual tribute to the skills and imagination of the finest artists currently working in diverse, deeply-rooted Texas woodworking traditions.
Last year at the 16th annual show, Texas furniture makers sold over $45,000 worth of furniture off the floor and nearly $3,000 of furniture accessories. This is a must-enter annual event and a great selling and client-contact venue for fine furniture makers.
The 2016 judges are:
Asa Christiana, former chief editor of Fine Woodworking magazine;
Peter Kennedy, of Fine Lumber & Plywood; and
Danny Kamerath, nationally acclaimed woodworker, artist, writer and teacher.
The final application deadline is Friday, September 16. All applications must be submitted with a $25 non-refundable jury fee. In keeping with KACC’s mission to encourage new furniture makers to enter the craft, we include a category for “Apprentice Furniture Maker” on the Entry Application. Full information and downloadable, printable entry forms are available at http://www.kacckerrville.com/texas-furniture-makers-show.
Potential entrants with questions can e-mail Show Chairperson Larry Moss at firstname.lastname@example.org or telephone 830-895-2911.
The Texas Furniture Makers’ Show will run for one month with the gallery open six days a week. Show hours will be: Tuesday through Saturday 10 a.m.-4 p.m. and Sunday 1 p.m.-4 p.m. Admission is always free.
