The Belton Educational Enrichment Foundation has recently received endowments for two scholarships. One is from the Robert S. Love Foundation for $15,000 added to $10,000 given last year; and the other is for $25,000 from the Henry T. Waskow VFW Post 4008.
The Robert S. Love “Love Cures” scholarship endowment was announced at the Public Schools Week Lunch in March and goes to a student who is pursuing a health-related field or who may have a family member affected by cancer. The scholarship is in memory of Robert S. Love, who was active in the Belton community for many years and who passed away from cancer in 2002. The VFW scholarship endowment was announced at the Foundation Board’s April meeting and goes to a student who has a family member who served in a foreign war and who is eligible for membership in the VFW.
Both scholarships will be awarded to students this year. Judy Owens, Foundation Administrator said, “We are honored and humbled to be entrusted with funds from these two organizations for students who represent their causes and ideals. We appreciate organizations like this who establish these scholarships to help students reach their educational goals and look forward to assisting many students in the years to come.”
