The Belton Lady Tigers Basketball got a major boost to their 2014-2015 season, after starting the Lampasas Lady Badgers Holiday Tournament 1-1 last week.

The clock expired and Belton claimed the Silver Bracket Championship of the tournament.

“I’m proud of the girls, as they worked hard,” Belton head coach Brenda Gomez. “We had one good win and one not-so-good win. We weren’t getting around picks, we weren’t paying attention and we weren’t focused.”

Gomez feels that at this time of year that the team should be playing to their potential.

“At this time of the season, we should be playing to our potential,” Gomez said. “In the last game, we didn’t do that.”

The Lady Tigers return to District 12-6A play with a 12-11 record overall, but 0-3 in district. They head back into a tough matchup at Tiger Gym Friday night at 7 p.m. against Killeen Ellison.
