Special to The Belton Journal
The Body of Christ Community Clinic (BOCCC) has begun initial work on a new dental clinic. The new dental facility will be an expanded version of the current BOCCC initiative to provide needed medical and dental care to the underserved population living in either the Belton ISD or Salado ISD.
The BOCCC estimates that approximately $250,000 will be needed to finish the clinic and purchase additional dental equipment. A fund raising effort was begun last November to raise the needed funds. Dubbed the “Building Smiles” campaign, thus far the BOCCC has raised about $75,000. A fundraising Building Smiles dinner will be held on September 1st at Tenroc Ranch in Salado. Tickets for the event will go on sale later this summer.
The building to house the dental clinic was formerly a church. The current work being done is interior demolition in preparation for the construction of the dental clinic. When finished, the new clinic will have six dental treatment rooms, a reception area and offices. The new clinic will be located at 1508 Oleta Street in Belton, just down from the current location of the BOCCC. Volunteers to help with demolition and construction are needed. Contact the BOCCC at (254) 939-9500 for additional information.
