Monday’s day one is in the books at the 2015 Texas Teen Age Softball 8U Coach Pitch and 15U District Tournaments.

In the 15U Division, the Rogers Heat run-ruled the Harker Heights Peacocks 10-0 in five innings, Troy Softball Swag sent 16 batters to the plate in the fourth inning and used the 12-run, 13-hit frame to run-rule Belton Game XChange 18-1 in five innings.

The 15U game of the day was 9 p.m. nightcap between Belton Elite 15U and the McGregor Shockwave.

Fighting back from a 2-0 deficit and a pair of critical home-plate outs in the sixth and seventh innings, Mersaidez Anzualda walkoff single scored Ashley Alcozer for a 3-2 win over the Shockwave.

Taylor Tubbs had six strikeouts and got several great defensive plays from Madison Sniggs at shortstop.

McGregor scratched out runs in the first and second innings. Katie Cathey’s triple to lead off the bottom of the third inning set up Sniggs’ RBI single. Madison Parker’s RBI double scored Sniggs, but was thrown out attempting to stretch the hit into a triple.

Tubbs retired six batters in a row before a walk and a single with two outs gave the Shockwave a solid scoring chance. Tubbs then induced a comebacker to the circle and got herself out of the jam.

With time having expired in the middle of the sixth inning, the Elite tried to win the ballgame with aggressive base running. Anzualda singled and advanced to second on a wild pitch. With one out, Cathey walked to give the Elite runners on first and second. Following a foul out, Parker singled to right field. The right fielder fired home and Anzualda ran into the tag at the plate to send the game into an extra inning after time expiration.

Sniggs took for a nasty spill she took approaching a fly ball that the first Shockwave batter had hit to the second base side of the field. A great snag by Alcozer on a bunt attempt and strikeout by Tubbs set up a great fly ball grab by Sniggs to end the inning.

With one out, Tubbs doubled to the left-centerfield gap. Grace Pohl came on to run for Tubbs. Alcozer singled to short leftfield and she fired a throw home to get Pohl by three steps. Alcozer moved up to second on the plate. Rachel Black hit a liner to third base, which was bobbled to board Black on first base. Anzualda singled to centerfield and Alcozer came around to score the winning run to advance the Elite into the quarterfinal round.

The Rockdale Blasters play the Harker Heights Ravens to round out the opening round at 4pm tomorrow.

The 15U schedule Tuesday featured two Loser’s bracket games: Belton Game XChange vs. Harker Heights Peacocks at 6 p.m. and McGregor Shockwave plays the Blasters-Ravens loser at 8 p.m.

The Rogers Heat and Troy Swag will play at 10 p.m. Tuesday in the winner’s bracket quarterfinals.

In the 8U Coach Pitch Division, the Belton Ducks had an impressive showing against the Cameron Wild Divas, winning 22-8. The Rogers Hot Shots shut out the Lexington Lunachicks 23-0, Burnet Aftershock beat Rockdale DreamTeam and Cameron Icebreakers beat the Rockdale Missfits.
