Charges not yet filed after stabbing death in Belton

The stabbing death of 21-year-old black man in Belton on Saturday was related to a domestic disturbance. The stabbing occurred inside an apartment unit located in the 800 block of Shady Lane at around 5 p.m. on July 9. Police and EMS arrived at the scene within minutes, but they could not resuscitate the victim.
The person who did the stabbing has been interviewed by Belton Police, but no formal charges have been filed. Police have consulted with the Bell County District Attorney’s office about the facts of the incident, and additional investigation is necessary before charges could be considered.
The victim and the person person who stabbed him were living together and knew each other. It is the policy of the Belton Police Department to not release names on people who are not formally charged.
The name of the deceased is Kenneth Rhee Franklin III.
