The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor volleyball team will enter the 2015 season just outside of the American Volleyball Coaches Association’s Top 25 Poll.

The Cru received votes totaling 97 points in the AVCA’s Preseason Poll and UMHB has the 27th-highest point total in the poll.

The Cru is the only American Southwest Conference program mentioned in the poll, but two other Texas schools did receive votes.

Trinity University is ranked 16th with 541 total points and Southwestern University totaled 35 points in the poll.

Calvin is ranked #1 with 42 first-place votes and 1,542 total points.

UMHB will face both of those programs this season and also has matches scheduled with #15 Colorado College, #24 Wisconsin-Whitewater and Whitworth (receiving votes).

The Cru volleyball team finished 25-6 last season and won its first ASC title since 1998.

UMHB advanced to the NCAA Division III National Championships for the second straight season. The Cru returns three starters and six letter winners from that team this season.

UMHB will open the 2015 season with a home tournament at the Mayborn Campus Center on September 4th and 5th.
