The CenTex Rollergirls H.O.T. All-Stars will return to action Saturday night at the Mayborn Civic Center in Temple, as they take on the Team Free Radicals from Austin in a tune up bout for their Oklahoma Tournament next month.

The doors will open up at 5 p.m. with first whistle sounding off at 6 p.m. Tickets are $10 and children 10 and under get into the bout free.

The Belton-based CTRG have a busy schedule in 2015, with eight more bouts scheduled at Mayborn and a Women’s Flat Track Derby Association sanctioned game in Oklahoma City against Tornado Alley of the OKC Roller Derby Association on April 12, along with tournaments in Augusta, Ga. and Fort Lauderdale, Fla. upcoming in the next three months.

“Our schedule is very busy over the next few months,” CTRG H.O.T. All-Stars head coach Zee Kelly. “I have been watching footage of our skating and find our little giveaways when it comes to our play-calling and switching our game around. Most of the time, we are a defense-oriented team, with our jammer being the sole offensive key. We have been practicing on being more balanced to help our jammers out.  It’s something had not focused on previously because we play well defensively. But we have stressed the need to be more balanced with so many teams that are up and coming with hardcore defensive moves. We needed to make the adjustments and that focus is taking shape in practice.”

Austin’s Team Free Radicals are a team composed of veteran derby skaters that CTRG have seen before, so Kelly and the team knows what to expect to prepare them for the rugged road ahead.

CTRG will be having a fundraiser at Horny Toad Harley Davidson on Saturday, April 18 from 3 p.m. to close. There will be barbeque plates for sale, a bike wash and live music from the band Catfish Special.

The team is working on fundraising for their Georgia and Florida tournaments. If you are interested in donating to the team’s drive to get to the two tournaments, you can visit http://www.gofundme.com/ctrg2015 to support the cause.
