Friday morning was another milestone event for Belton Independent School District and High Point Elementary as the 49th Transportation Battalion adopted the school.
Representatives from the surrounding communities of Belton, Morgan’s Point and Temple were in attendance including the mayors, City Council members, Bell County Commissioners, chamber of commerce members, and a variety of other community leaders.
School principal Amy Armstrong, Superintendent Dr. Susan Kincannon, and School Board president Randy Pittenger provided remarks on their excitement and gratitude to the adoptive unit as well as the communities that helped to make this new school a reality.
Each Belton Independent School District school is adopted by a unit, and the units work with the students in a variety of ways to help bridge the gap between community and service members.
