Belton is known for its homey inviting atmosphere, friendly people, and the wide variety of locally owned businesses to visit in the downtown area. About a year ago, a group called SWARM was started by Ambassadors, Chamber members and citizens of Belton.

The Lena Armstrong Public Library received a $10,000 grant to purchase e-readers, iPads and an e-book remote.
The grant was applied for in February and recently approved with the equipment to be installed sometime later this year.
The impact grants for library innovation and improvement is provided by the state.

At the district convention of Jehovah’s Witnesses held at the Bell County Expo Center, “God’s Word is Truth” resonated through the center. “God’s Word is Truth” was the theme of this event which has been held in 3 day increments over the past 6 weeks. The convention is scheduled to conclude its celebrations over the upcoming weekend of August 16-18.

In a long list of exciting things happening in Belton the Nolan Creek Hike and Bike Trail extension is close to being started. Bids on the extension will be received in August for the 1/3 of a mile extension that extends the trail to the 9th Ave Bridge and the UMHB campus. Funds for the $1.83 million project were provided by a grant that was awarded to the City of Belton in 2010.
