The Belton Lady Tigers Cross Country Team is continuing its quest for a state title in grand fashion on a statewide stage last weekend at Mae Simmons Park in Lubbock.
Belton finished in fourth place overall with 107 points, behind Odessa (71 points), Odessa Permian (81 points) and Fort Worth Paschal (87 points). The Lady Tigers had two Top-8 finishers in the three-mile run, with a total team time of 1:43:45.
Brooke Gilmore continued her stellar freshman season with a second-place finish with a time of 19:12.5, just behind Ashton Endsley of Abilene (18:49.10). Olivia Houlden, also a freshman, is doing her part as well with an eighth place finish and a time of 19:56.8.
Here are the Lady Tigers’ placements and times for the meet: junior Katey Hatter (23rd, 21:06.6), sophomore Macy Niemi (32nd, 21:25.6), junior Breanna Barber (42nd, 22:03.3), sophomore Sydney Siegfried (55th, 22:41.3) and senior Macy Banfield (79th, 27.48.6).
The girls will be back in action in Brenham at the Brenham Hillacious Hills Meet on Saturday.
