Streams of tears flow from my eyes, for your law is not obeyed.
-Psalm 119:136, New International Version
The biblical King David of Israel was known for his diverse skills as both a warrior and a writer of psalms. In his 40 years as ruler, between approximately 1010 and 970 B.C.E., he united the people of Israel, led them to victory in battle, conquered land and paved the way for his son, Solomon, to build the Holy Temple.
The law that David writes about above is “God’s Law,” which was thrown aside by the U.S. Supreme Court last Friday by a vote of 5-4 in favor of legalizing gay marriage. I will not quote scripture because those that read their Bible knows what it says about homosexuality. Christians know that God’s Law trumps any law that is made by man, but there are those people who say that the laws written in the Bible are not applicable to life in today’s society. They couldn’t be more wrong. It’s actually the other way around.
Man has always pushed the envelope and tries to justify sin and instant gratification. About two months ago, I was involved in a discussion on gay marriage with four others. Three of us argued against it and two argued for it. The main argument the pro gay marriage people used was the fact that if two people loved each other, no matter if they were of the same sex, then they should be allowed to marry and have the same rights as straight married couples. The three of us on the con side of course used scripture to argue against. I took it a step further and asked, “Okay, if this is made legal, what’s next?”
I brought up my opinion that if you give someone an inch, they will try to take a mile. Once gay marriage is legalized, which group will rise up and demand that the perversion of choice for that group should be legalized also. I fully believe that something that most people find reprehensible could be next. There are daily arrests and convictions for pedophilia throughout our nation and there is even a national organization by the name of “NAMBLA” (North American Man/Boy Love Association). According to the website www.nambla.org the ultimate goal is as follows: “NAMBLA’s goal is to end the extreme oppression of men and boys in mutually consensual relationships.” In other words, NAMBLA wants pedophilia legalized because they see nothing wrong with laying with under aged boys. Please, if you don’t believe me, visit their website and see for yourselves.
The point I’m trying to get across is that as man loses sight of the one true God and thinks his words and commands are not applicable to life in today’s world, he will try to make others look upon his sin and say it’s his right to celebrate his life as he wants. He will gather supporters and eventually find enough Godless people to find in his favor.
You say “This will never happen.” Just ask yourself one question and give yourself an honest answer. Ask yourself, “Twenty years ago, did I think I would see gay marriage legalized?” Beware of what comes next!
Have a great 4th of July and may God Bless.
