Bell County is well known with its affiliation with the military and support of the troops. Bell County is very personal with the soldiers and realizes how tough life can be after active duty. That’s why Patriot Way and Bell County come together to not only raise money, but offer a relaxing round of golf for the troops. On Monday, October 4th, Patriot Way held the 2015 Annual Patriot Way Golf Classic, a charitable event open to the public, citizens and soldiers alike.

“The Patriot Way Golf classic was hosted to raise money for the military relations that the Belton Area Chamber of Commerce does,” said Luke Potts, an organizer of the event. “It helps to support multiple programs that the Chamber of Commerce is involved with.”

The money raised works to help a bevy of organizations all around the Belton area, and the Patriot Way Golf Classic is one of the main fundraisers to help all of the organizations that Beltonians are familiar with and have been involved or touched by.

“This will go to help Student 2 Student, Meet the Soldier Night, Belton Military Nights, the Military Information packets we put together, Adopt a Troop, as well as assisting men with deployments and then buying necessities for them when we get back. It’ll also go toward our Patriot Way memorial in downtown Belton, as well as Belton Area Military Spouse Support Program,” said Potts.

As for the purpose of the Golf Classic and why Patriot Way does what it does, Luke Potts and Nicole Stairs, another organizer of the Patriot way Golf Classic, gave an answer that should make everyone proud of their community.

“There are multiple programs we are helping support through this that’ll help support the military when they get there and get back. It’s our way of giving back to the military for all of the numerous sacrifices they make for us.”

Allison Kondrat, a student at Belton High School, as well as the president of the Student 2 Student program, attended the event on behalf of the program at the school. Student 2 Student is one of the main programs supported by Patriot Way, and works very hard to provide support and friendship to students as well as the community.

“Student 2 Student is a really cool organization that involves lots of people, and it has a very cool opening and welcoming environment,” said Kondrat. “Especially with military kids, it really helps them and acclimates them to the new school and new community.”

Patriot Way works hard to support all parts of the military in our community, and it wouldn’t be possible without the Patriot Way Golf Classic. The event bolstered more than 10 teams, and had plenty fun giveaways to give back to the community that’s giving to the military. With golf fans and soldiers alike, the Golf Classis was a well-attended event, and all the proceeds will go to the good cause of supporting the military community here in the Belton area, as well as Bell County.
