With Christmas right around the corner, families are getting into the holiday spirit. On December 8, Main Street Hall in Temple will be hosting a free family-friendly event that will feature Santa being flown in by helicopter!

Ron Prince, owner of Main Street Hall, said that he vividly remembers watching Santa being flown in by helicopter as a child and feels fortunate that he is able to share that experience with other families.

“One of my all-time favorite childhood memories was going to see Santa arrive by helicopter with my parents and neighbors,” Prince said. “The thrill and anticipation, the feeling of the wind and vibration from the chopper as the pilot slowly lowered Santa to the ground has always been one of my favorite memories! Each year I try to give back to the children of our communities, usually to the children in foster care, and this year, we are going big extending this to the community! My wife Bokyung, newborn son Niam Tae Min, and I are blessed and in a position where we can try to bring this memorable festive event to our downtown Temple venue at Main Street Hall!”

Families will also have the opportunity to enjoy a free pancake breakfast catered by Let Us Do the Cooking Catering that begins at 12 p.m.. This cozy get-together will feature breakfast and holiday activities, with added perks such as vendors and photos with Santa (bring your camera).

“We are proud to host this historic event as this is the 1st time a helicopter has landed in downtown Temple,” Prince said. “We are thankful for the City, Local PD, and FD to help with providing us with a secured landing pad in the City Hall parking lot, traffic control, and barricades to assure a safe and memorable event. Main Street Hall has only recently opened its door as a multi-purpose rustic event space. We are excited to set the stage with our rustic beauty featuring a bridal suite for this building from the 1890’s to provide many more memories for decades to come!”

Santa Claus will make his grand entrance at City Hall in Temple at 9:05 a.m., arriving by helicopter by Freedom Air Helicopters.
