On September 24th, the Belton Expo Center will be holding the 2013 Senior Expo.
The Senior Expo has a large variety of booths set up throughout the center, all of them offering information for senior citizens regarding, healthcare, assisted living options, insurance, senior activity centers, and more. Amongst those booths is Cochlear. One in three people over the age of 65 have hearing loss that hearing aids can’t help with. Cochlear is a manufacturer of implantable hearing solutions when hearing aids are no longer enough. Cochlear implants are implanted into the inner ear where the nerve deafness occurs, and provides direct electrical stimulation to the auditory nerve. It delivers sound in a way that mirrors the natural hearing process.

“After over 40 years of using hearing aids, my father could no longer understand speech with them on. That is when he received Cochlear Implants,” said Paula Moore, Cochlear Awareness Network Manager. “My father went from being isolated and depressed, to being able to finally participate in his life again.”

The Cochlear booth will be offering a mass amount of information on the implantable hearing solutions, where and how the implant process is done, the cost, what type of insurances are accepted, plus the opportunity to meet others who have chosen Cochlear implants as their hearing solution and the chance to hear their feedback on it.

“We want senior citizens to leave our booth with plenty of information, and to know that hearing is a very important part of our lives, and that there is a solution beyond hearing aids.” Paula Moore said.
