Belton Tigers Golf’s Tiger ONE flight took part in the 2016 Marvin Dameron Invitational at Waco’s Cottonwood Creek Golf Course.
Battling back from a ninth-place standing on the first day of the tournament and deteriorating conditions from Friday into Saturday, the Tigers finished seventh in a field of 22 of state’s best golf teams. They shot a two-day score of 632 (310-322), which was tied with Lake Travis (314-318=632).
Highland Park won the tournament with a two-day score of 592 (289-303). Waco Midway was second (306-316=622), followed by Rockwall (298-325=623), The Woodlands (304-322=626), Edmond North (296-331=627) and Dallas Jesuit (304-325=629).
Dalton Hankamer was the Tigers’ highest finisher and medaled with a fifth-place finish, shooting 71-76=147. William Paysse placed 26th with a 78-79=157, Robert Arnold (81-83) and Walker Reyes (80-84) finished in a six-way tie for 52nd with a 164 and Landdon Squiers (86-91=177) finished in a tie for 96th place.
A total of 122 golfers participated in the tournament.
