Tigers, Lady Tigers tracksters strong at JV District 12-6A Meet

The Belton Tigers junior varsity track and field teams traveled to Copperas Cove to participate in the 2016 District 12-6A Junior Varsity Meet at Bulldawg Stadium last week.

Ellison won the highly-competitive boys’ division with 122 points. Shoemaker was runner-up with 113.5 points, followed by Copperas Cove (112.5), Belton (104.67), Harker Heights (90), Waco Midway (46.33) and Killeen (31).

Waco Midway won the girls’ division with 194 points. Harker Heights finished as runner-up (114), followed by Shoemaker (90), Ellison (72), Killeen (54), Belton (51) and Copperas Cove (42).

Here are the Belton JV boys’ top six finishes:
200-Meter Dash-Riley Brown, sixth place, 23.54.
400-Meter Dash-Marshall Fish, fourth place, 52.91.
800-Meter Run-Bailey Fanning, first place, 2:07.32 and Xavier Hall, second place, 2:09.39.
1,600-Meter Run-Morgan Miller, first place, 4:52.93, Spencer Liles, second place, 4:54.01 and Asa Cable, third place, 4:55.64.
3,200-Meter Run-Spencer Liles, first place, 10:52.17, Asa Cable, second place, 10:55.93 and Morgan Miller, third place, 10:55.93.
110-Meter Hurdles-Kai Miller, fourth place, 16.93.
300-Meter Hurdles-Mitchell Dunahoo, fifth place, 43.70.
4 X 100-Meter Hurdles-Belton (team of Bradley Wheeler, Braden Shaffer, Kyle O’Banon and Riley Brown), fifth place, 44.83.
4 X 200-Meter Relay-Belton (team of Braden Shaffer, Deonta Howard, Kyle O’Banon and Riley Brown), sixth place, 1:36.35.
4 X 400-Meter Run-Belton (team of Kyle O’Banon, Ben Hetzel, Marshall Fish and Bailey Fanning), third place.
High Jump-Christan Thomas, tied for third, 5-6.
Pole Vault-Nick Velasquez and Mitchell Dunahoo, tied for fourth place, 10-0.

100-Meter Hurdles-Ashlie Hintermeister, third place, 18.13 and Tatianna Confer, sixth place, 19.00.
300-Meter Hurdles-Ashlie Hintermeister, fourth place, 52.33.
