Tigers Powerlifting finish fourth at Midway Invitational

The Belton boys’ powerlifting team went up against some of the best lifted in the area at the 2015 Midway Invitational last Thursday in Hewitt.
The Tigers finished with one first-place finish, three second-place finishes and two fourth-place finishes for a total of 26 points, good for fourth place.
Temple finished first with 45 points. Copperas Cove and Waco Midway each finished with 35 points to tie for second.
Here are the top 10 Belton finishers and their weight classificiations:
114 class: Abe Villareal, second place (280 squat, 150 bench, 300 dead lift, 750 total).
132 class: Marcus Stafford, fourth place (255 squat, 155 bench, 285 dead lift, 695 total).
148 class: Braden Shaffer, eighth place (315 squat, 225 bench, 320 dead lift, 860 total).
165 class: Brandon Hunt, ninth place (375 squat, 190 bench, 375 dead lift, 940 total) and Jacob Lewallen, 10th place (335 squat, 185 bench, 395 dead lift, 915 total).
198 class: Joe Warehime, first place (445 squat, 295 bench, 425 dead lift, 1,165 total), Jerimiah Leyba, third place (450 squat, 245 bench, 440 dead lift, 1,135 total), John Harvey, seventh place (440 squat, 250 bench, 425 dead lift, 1,115 total) and Buddy Curry, ninth place (430 squat, 260 bench, 385 dead lift, 1,075 total).
220 class: Cody Garrett, fourth place (420 squat, 235 bench, 425 dead lift, 1,080 total), DJ Fischer, sixth place (385 squat, 205 bench, 460 dead lift, 1,050 total) and Bryce Avila, seventh place (350 squat, 235 bench, 315 dead lift, 900 total).
242 class: Arturo Jaimes, fifth place (380 squat, 235 bench, 475 dead lift, 1,090 total).
275 class: Will Drake, seventh place (410 squat, 225 bench, 425 dead lift, 1,060 total) and Tobar Isiah, eighth place (390 squat, 215 bench, 430 dead lift, 1,035 total).
SHW class: Javon Chambers, second place (620 squat, 320 bench, 405 dead lift, 1,345 total) and Zach Shackleford, 10th place (460 squat, 270 bench, 430 dead lift, 1,160 total).
The Tigers will host the 2015 Tiger Invitational at Lake Belton Middle School starting at 8 a.m. this Saturday.
