TTAB playoffs underway for BYBA teams

The 2016 Texas Teenage Baseball-Softball Association (TTAB) district baseball tournaments are underway locally at Heritage Park and Jaycee Park, as well as in Troy and in Cameron.
Action got underway Monday and will conclude Thursday night with TTAB state championship berths to be issued out.
In 14U action at Jaycee Park Monday night, it was a Belton sweep in the opening round of the district playoffs. The Belton Yankees shut out the Cameron Mariners 12-0 in the first game. In the nightcap, the Belton Rockies dealt the Cameron Astros a 13-0 loss. The sweep set up an all-Belton affair Tuesday afternoon, with the winner going to the district championship game in a post-press time game on Wednesday. The Mariners and Astros played late Tuesday night in the loser’s bracket game.
In 12U action over in Troy, the Belton Rattlers shut out the Bruceville-Eddy Eagles 9-0, Belton Cubs downed the Cameron Indians 9-2 and Belton Royals fell to the Cameron Orioles 4-0. The Belton Mets were winning 12-9 before a rules violation resulted in a forfeit to McGregor
Tuesday’s winner’s bracket featured the Belton Rattlers against McGregor and Belton Cubs against the Cameron Orioles. The loser’s bracket pitted Bruceville-Eddy against the Belton Mets and Cameron Indians took on the Belton Royals.
In 10U action in Cameron on Monday, the Belton A’s fell to the Cameron D-Backs 10-5 and Belton Tide defeated the Rogers 45’s in the early games. In the late games on Monday, the Belton Ducks shut out the Rogers Rangers 10-0. The Belton Dodgers rallied from an eight-run deficit and had countless batters hit, but rallied late to beat the Cameron Rangers 9-8.
Tuesday’s winner’s bracket featured the Cameron D-Backs taking on the Belton Tide and the Belton Ducks took on the Belton Dodgers. The loser’s bracket featured the Belton A’s against the Rogers 45’s and a battle of the Rangers, as Cameron took on Rogers.
In Monday night 8U Coach Pitch district action at Heritage Park, the Lampasas Los Amigos downed the Belton Orioles, the Belton Tigers beat the Belton Marlins 14-6, the Belton Yankees shut out the Lampasas Rattlers 18-0 and the Belton Red Wings overcame a inside-the-park grand slam from Belton Flying Squirrel’s outfielder Asa Thomas to win 21-13. The Red Wings trailed 13-9 at one point.
Tuesday’s action featured Los Amigos-Red Wings and Tigers-Yankees in the winner’s bracket games, with the Belton Orioles-Belton Flying Squirrels and Belton Marlins-Lampasas Rattlers in the loser’s bracket games.
In 6U T-ball action from Heritage Park, the Belton Bees picked up wins over the Gatesville Mustangs and the Lampasas Mustangs (17-2). The Belton Riverdawgs defeated the Lampasas Scrappers (18-2) and Junction 36 (20-5). The Belton Wildcats defeated the Belton Raptors and the Belton Sea Dogs, following a bye, came from behind the beat Gatesville A&G Homes 22-20.
On Tuesday, it was an all-Belton winner’s bracket, as the Bees played the Riverdawgs and the Wildcats played the Sea Dogs. In the loser’s bracket the Raptors took on the Lampasas Mustangs, Methodist took on Junction 36, Gatesville Mustangs took on the Belton Volcanoes and the Lampasas Scrappers played A&G Homes.
