The Better Belton Foundation received their second home this year, thanks to a donation from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.
The house, which is currently located at 1105 N. Pearl St. in Belton on the UMHB campus, was formerly rented out to students by the university.
According to Larry Guess, President of The Better Belton Foundation, negotiations for the new location are still under way.
“We are moving that house and are going to restore it to its original condition,” Guess said.
The project should take between four and six months. It will then be sold at a reduced cost to a low-income buyer.
“We are grateful to Mary Hardin-Baylor for making it possible for us to acquire that house,” Guess said. “We hope that many more residents of Belton will take advantage of the opportunities offered by Better Belton.”
The Better Belton Foundation is a non-profit organization founded in 2013 that is dedicated to restoring vacant, abandoned and deteriorating properties.
