Watson, Alcozer qualify for state track meet

The Belton Tigers and Lady Tigers’ track and field teams traveled up to the Clyde Davis Track and Field Complex at Baylor University in Waco last weekend for the Texas UIL Region II Track and Field Meet.

The Belton Boys team score of 14 points was ranked 19th in the region and the Belton Girls team score of 19 points was ranked 13th in the region.

Will Watson and Bekah Alcozer will represent Belton in 2015 at the Texas UIL Class 6A Track Meet in Austin May 13-15.

Watson won the 300 hurdles and Alcozer finished second in the discus event.

Here are the Belton finishes, by event:
Girls 3,200-meter run: Brooke Gilmore (sixth place, 11:28.57).
Boys 800-meter run: Soren San Miguel (ninth place, 2:03.00).
Girls 100-meter hurdles: Kaylee Krenek (third place in preliminaries at 14.36, third place in finals at 14.40).
Boys 110-meter hurdles: Will Watson (third place in preliminaries at 14.40, fourth place in finals at 14.29).
Girls 300-meter hurdles: Kaylee Krenek (seventh place in preliminaries at 44.59, seventh place in finals at 44.70).
Boys 300-meter hurdles: (third place in preliminaries at 38.03, first place in finals at 37.67, state qualifier).
Girls 1,600-meter run: Brooke Gilmore (sixth place, 5:14.07).
Boys 4×400-meter relay: Relay squad of Olajuwon Taylor, Will Watson, Soren San Miguel and Calvin Johnson III (eighth place in preliminaries at 3:20.75, eighth place in finals at 3:21.28).
Girls Discus: Bekah Alcozer (second place, 136-01, state qualifier).
Boys Discus: Reagan Francis (seventh place, 153-11)
Girls Pole Vault: Claire Woodson (fourth place, 11-06)
Boys Pole Vault: Bryson Coufal (10th place, 13-06)
Boys Shot Put: Sam Hussey (seventh place, 53-11.5)
