The Belton City Council recently authorized Cynthia Hernandez, the Executive Director of the Belton Economic Development Corporation, to execute a contract with Bell Contractors for the construction of the IH-14 water and wastewater improvement project.

“We continually invest in the infrastructure for development in the City of Belton. The City of Belton took the lead on easement acquisition on this project. There was a lot of knocking on doors. The difference in this project was that it involved the Dog Ridge Water Supply, City of Belton and BEDC,” said Hernandez.

The project includes a waterline extension for Dog Ridge beginning at FM 1670 to IH-14 extending east to 190 Land and terminating at Auction Barn Road.

Waterline improvements have been designed by MPR Engineering for Dog Ridge. Wastewater improvements begin at 14/35 Belton Crossing Development on IH-14, extending south.  The wastewater serves properties along IH-14 to FM 1670, with an additional segment serving properties further south extending to FM 1670 and north towards KH-14.

The project creates opportunities to promote economic development in Belton.

“Dog Ridge Water Supply have been great to work with. It was a good experience working with their Board of Directors and staff,” said Hernandez.

The cost of the project is $2,726,718.
