The Belton Lady Tigers Soccer team will start its quest for a Class 6A State Championship on Thursday night, as they take on District 11-6A third-place finisher Rowlett.
The game will be at Tiger Stadium in Corsicana (4001 Farm-to-Market Road 744) at 6 p.m.
The Lady Tigers (15-4-1 overall, 11-1 in District 12-6A) go into the playoffs with one of the more prolific offenses in the area. Aubrey Martinez, Tiarra Hodges, Jamie Brown, Mattie Krenek, Alison Navarro and host of other Belton players are capable of putting the ball into the back of the net at any time.
Belton goalkeeper Courtney Dippel is one of the best in school history and the defense in front of her has improved throughout the season, with standouts like Sara Villamaria, Erica Anderson, Lexi Mack, Emily Navarro and Caroline Stegall.
Rowlett (11-8-1 overall, 10-4 District 11-6A).
Coach Jason Fegraeus picked up his 100th victory with his Lady Eagles on March 17. Two of their wins came against Rockwall 2-0 and 1-0 (who Belton defeated 3-0 at Round Rock McNeil in January).
Two of the four losses that Rowlett picked up during their District 11-6A campaign were a pair of 9-0 losses to district champion Sachse, who draw Copperas Cove in the first round. The other two losses were to Tyler Lee 2-0 (who play Midway in the bi-district round) and Garland Lakeview Centennial 2-0.
