Lakewood Elementary School Assistant Principal Ashlie Thomas was surprised by the Education Service Center Region 12 Technology Foundation with a $12,940 grant on Tuesday morning.

Thomas was one of nine Region 12 educators who are receiving over $85,000 in grant funds throughout the week.

The dollars awarded will support education technology projects that are expected to impact 5,354 students in eight school districts in the region.

This grant, generously provided by the Region 12 Technology Foundation, is earmarked for the acquisition of state-of-the-art Lightspeed Redcat devices, set to transform the classroom experience for both students and educators at Lakewood.

“We are thrilled to receive this grant and grateful for the opportunity it presents to enhance our teaching practices. The Lightspeed Redcat devices will enable us to create more interactive and inclusive learning environments where each and every student’s voice can be heard and valued,” Thomas said. “These innovative devices will empower teachers to engage students in dynamic discussions, interactive lessons, and group activities with unparalleled clarity and efficiency.”

The Lightspeed Redcat devices utilize cutting-edge audio technology, ensuring crystal-clear sound transmission throughout the classroom and collaboration spaces. With their portable and user-friendly design, teachers will have the flexibility to adapt their teaching strategies and seamlessly integrate technology into various instructional settings.

Principal Christy Chandler expressed her enthusiasm for the grant. “This investment in classroom technology aligns perfectly with our school’s commitment to providing innovative and student-centered education. We believe that these devices will greatly enrich the educational experience for our students and empower our teachers to excel in their craft,” Chandler said.

The acquisition of the Lightspeed Redcat devices reflects Belton ISD’s dedication to staying at the forefront of educational innovation and creating dynamic learning environments that inspire academic excellence and collaboration.
