Lone Star Shoot Out to be held at Tiger Field on Friday and Saturday

Seventeen teams from 16 different schools with take the football fields at Belton High School on Friday and Saturday for Lone Star Shootout 2018.
Pool play will commence at 10 a.m. on Friday, with each team playing five pool games and a crossover game over a six-hour period. Each team will play a minimum of two games on Saturday, with the first bracket game starting at 10 a.m.
If you have never seen 7-On-7 football, this is a prime opportunity to see one of the nation’s fastest growing sports.
It is important to note that LSSO is not a State Qualifying Tournament. Belton, Hutto, and Lake Travis have already qualified for the Texas 7-On-7 Division I State Tournament to be played on June 29-30 in College Station. Lorena and China Spring have already qualified for the Division II State Tournament to be played on June 28-29.
This tournament contains some of the best athletes from the state of Texas.
Belton will have two varsity teams suited up for the tournament.
Temple returns to the tournament looking to repeat as champions, following their 49-42 win against Belton 1 at the 2017 Lone Star Shootout.
Little River-Academy and Salado make their debuts in the tournament.
Here are the pool assignments for the tournament:
Pool A: Belton, Copperas Cove, Round Rock Stony Point, Kyle Lehman, Austin McCallum and Elgin.
Pool B: Belton 2, Austin Anderson, Killeen Ellison, China Spring, Hutto, and Salado.
Pool C: Temple, Killeen Shoemaker, Lake Travis, Georgetown, Little River-Academy, and Lorena.
Fields 1 and 2 are set up on Tiger Field. Fields 3, 4, 5 and 6 are staged on the Tiger practice fields, just outside of Tiger Field.
Belton’s opening day pool schedule will put them up against China Spring on Field 1 at 10 a.m., against Copperas Cove at 10:40 a.m. (Field 4), against Elgin at 12 p.m. (Field 2), against Austin McCallum at 12:40 p.m. (Field 6), against Kyle Lehman at 2 p.m (Field 1), and against Round Rock Stony Point at 2:40 p.m. (Field 2).
Belton 2’s opening day pool schedule will put them up against Lorena at 10:40 a.m. (Field 1), against Austin Anderson at 11:20 a.m. (Field 1), against Salado at 12 p.m. (Field 2), against Hutto at 1:20 p.m. (Field 6), against China Spring at 2 p.m. (Field 3) and against Killeen Ellison at 3 p.m. (Field 2).
Temple’s opening day schedule will put them against Kyle Lehman at 10 a.m. (Field 4), against Killeen Shoemaker at 11:20 a.m. (Field 4), against Lorena at 12:40 p.m. (Field 2), against Little River-Academy at 1:20 p.m. (Field 3), against Georgetown at 2:40 p.m. (Field 4), and against Lake Travis at 3:20 p.m. (Field 5).
Little River-Academy’s opening day schedule will put them against Austin Anderson at 10:20 a.m. (Field 2), against Georgetown at 11 a.m. (Field 6), against Killeen Shoemaker at 12:40 p.m. (Field 3), against Temple at 1:20 p.m. (Field 3), against Lake Travis at 2:40 p.m. (Field 5), and against Lorena at 3:20 p.m. (Field 4).
Salado’s opening day schedule will put them against Elgin at 10 a.m. (Field 6), against Killeen Ellison 11:20 a.m. (Field 2), against Belton 2 at 12 p.m. (Field 2), against China Spring at 1:20 p.m. (Field 4), against Austin Anderson at 2 p.m. (Field 6), and against Hutto at 3:20 p.m. (Field 1).
Bracket play starts at 9 a.m. on Saturday, with the championship game starting at 12:10 p.m. on Field 1.
