Special to the Journal
It is that time of the year when we need to be thankful for the abundant gifts God has given us this past year and think about how we can give back. St. Vincent De Paul (SVDP) certainly believes in giving back to the community and wants everyone to have a Merry Christmas, so on Friday, Dec. 21, all clothing and all Christmas items, in their Thrifty Store, will be 25-cents. This will allow those on limited income to buy Christmas decorations and gifts at an unbelievable low price.
This does not include jeans, jackets, and winter coats. SVDP has a nice collection of clothing, furniture, and household items. They have everything from designer purses and clothing to wedding dresses. SVDP is a volunteer based non profit organization that is making a major difference in the lives of the homeless and those in need in Central Texas. They have volunteers of all ages, who collectively dedicate their talents and thousands of volunteer hours to help people achieve a better quality of life. SVDP realizes that you don’t have to be brilliant, rich, or perfect to make a difference in the lives of others. You just have to care and that is what SVDP does best-caring for others.
They are located at 106 W. Ave D (Off to the right of First Street, just before the overpass downtown) and are open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Their telephone number is 254-773-7591.
They also have a bargain barn which has some unbelievable buys. You can drop off your donations of clothing, household items, other miscellaneous items, Monday through Friday 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
