Kelly Boggs has been named Director of Development at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor beginning Jan. 6.
According to Associate Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations, Dr. Rebecca O’Banion, Boggs’s appointment to the director position will advance the work of the university.
“I am excited to welcome Kelly Boggs, a 1985 alumnus of UMHB, to the Development team.” O’Banion said. “He is passionate about his alma mater, and I look forward to seeing him use that passion to encourage others to invest in what God is doing at UMHB.”
Over the past eight years Boggs has served the as editor of the Louisiana Baptist Message, the newsjournal for the Louisiana Baptist Convention. For the past two years he has also served as the director of the office of public affairs for Louisiana Baptists.
Boggs has also written a weekly column for the Baptist Press, the official news service of the Southern Baptist Convention, for the past 14 years. In these columns, he has addressed a wide variety of cultural issues in the news.
Boggs also worked as a pastor for churches in Oregon, as well as in Burnet, Copperas Cove, and Leander.
“Kelly brings years of experience in Baptist work, along with fundraising and sales experience, which will be vital in his role as Director of Development.” O’Banion said. “He is uniquely qualified to help the Development team during this crucial time of growth.”
