Salado Area Republican Women will be welcoming State Senator Pete Flores to their March 28th luncheon meeting at the Salado Civic Center, 601 N. Main Street in Salado.
The meeting starts at 11:30 a.m.
Senator Flores’ topic will be the Human Smuggling Bill that passed the Legislature in 2023.
The lunch will be beef stroganoff with salad and dessert catered by La Luncheonette in Belton.
The cost will be $20 and is payable at the door with a confirmed reservation.
Reservations may be made by sending an email to sherril.gardipee@gmail.com by Monday, March 25th.
Those preferring not to eat still need to make a reservation for seating purposes. A nominal charge for those not eating will be made to help cover the cost of the room.
Senator Flores is a retired Game Warden with a 27-year career serving the state of Texas. He achieved the rank of Colonel during his tenure. As a Game Warden, he managed a $60 million budget and oversaw 27 field offices. He was also the first Hispanic Texas Game Warden Colonel.
He has served in the Texas Senate twice. He was first elected in a special election in 2018, becoming the first Hispanic Republican in the Texas Senate.
He was re-elected in 2022 to continue representing Senate District 24.
His legislative achievements and honors include being named the incoming chair of the Criminal Justice Committee.
Flores played a crucial role in the passage of the historic property tax relief package. He also received the Inaugural Legislative Star Award from the Texas Public Employees Association.
He grew up in south Texas and now resides in Pleasanton with his wife, Elizabeth.
