After many areas of Bell County received beneficial rainfall over several days last week, Bell County Judge David Blackburn has issued an order lifting the Burn Ban. This order went into effect on Wednesday, Sept. 4.

Judge Blackburn initially issued the Emergency Order Prohibiting Outdoor Burning on Friday, August 16.

The Bell County Commissioners Court voted unanimously to extend that order until Monday, October 7. The order lifting the Burn Ban states that the conditions that led to its issuance “no longer exist in such a manner that creates a public safety hazard.”

While the Burn Ban is lifted, Bell County residents are still required to report burns through the Burn Ban phone line (254) 933-5555.

This practice not only instructs callers of Texas laws related to burning, but it also ensures that area fire department personnel are not mistakenly deployed to planned burns.
