Special to the Journal
Altrusa International of Temple, TX, Inc. will host the 38th Annual Taste of the Holidays fundraiser on Thursday, November 21, at the Frank W. Mayborn Civic & Convention Center.
This year’s theme is “The Most Wonderful Time of the Year” and doors open at 10:30 a.m. for the program, luncheon and fashion show beginning at 11:15 a.m. This beloved event features a meal with all the trimmings that is made personally by the Altrusans.
All of the proceeds from this event go directly back into the community in the form of funding for projects, scholarships and grants in partnership with many local organizations. Some of the projects from 2023-2024 included volunteer efforts and funding for Foster Love, Kid’s Against Hunger, Amy’s House, and Hilltop Recovery to name a few.
This year’s Taste of the Holidays event will feature a style show with fashions from Dillard’s located at the Temple Mall. The models for the fashion show will feature women, men, children and service dogs from local Bell County non-profit agencies and organizations where Altrusa has partnered to serve the community needs in the past several years. These projects serve many specific needs of the community including education, healthcare, social services and more.
Altrusans will be selling raffle tickets for packages with many different prizes including an amazing Starfire Designs pendant and wire necklace donated by Charlie Wharton. The proceeds from raffle ticket sales directly fund scholarships for local Bell County students. In 2024, Altrusa presented 12 scholarships totaling $24,000. Raffle tickets can be purchased from any Altrusa member prior to or during the event until the fun begins with the drawing for the first prize package.
Tickets for the event are already on sale – make your reservations online now at www.altrusatemple.org. Tickets are $60 per person reserved after November 1. Don’t miss the opportunity to participate in the community event with Altrusa International of Temple, Texas, Inc. which impacts the lives of thousands each year with support from local sponsors, donors and participants.
