Jimmy Dell Ivey of Holland, Texas passed away peacefully at his home on March 9th, 2024.
Funeral service is at 10:00 a.m., on Thursday, March 14th, 2024, at Dossman Funeral Home in Belton, Texas.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, March 13th, 2024, at Dossman Funeral home from 6:00-8:00 p.m.
Jimmy was born July 18th, 1949, in Holland, Texas to Odell & Dorothy Ivey.
Jimmy lived most of his life in Holland, Texas were he raised his children, watched his grandchildren grow up and spent time with his family. Jimmy retired after 45+ years of truck driving with McLane’s, Western Auto, Sherwin Williams and as an independent driver. He traveled all over the US and enjoyed his many adventures. When not on the road, he enjoyed time at his parents’ house where everyone gathered with homemade meals, played cards, dominos and told stories. He loved his grandchildren & great-grandchildren, always asking “how are the babies”. After retirement he loved watching old western movies, taking drives around town, attending Holland HS football games and keeping up with the latest news & politics.
Jimmy is survived by his brothers; Phillip Ivey (Sarah) GW Ivey (Gay), sister; Maybell Frey (Richie) daughter-in-law, Lydia Linden-Ivey, sons; Wesley Ricks (Claudia) and George Ricks, grandchildren; Stormie, Dillon (Tomika), Amber (Kyle), Kasey (James), Forrest, Brittannie (Zachary), Quenton, Hunter & Patrick, and great-grandchildren; Dawson, Tinlie, Kaden, Kyra, Colter, Paisleigh, Kylie, Ava & Jagger.
Jimmy is preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Jean Jones; mother, Dorothy Lou Pace; father, Phillips Odell Ivey; brother, John Guthrie (Jane); sister, Audrey Faye Hill (RC); and sons, Jeffrey Odell Ivey and Jimmy Lee Ivey.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in his name to the Holland ISD Scholarship Fund.
