The August NPSOT Tonkawa Chapter meeting will feature Wilma Tichelaar, State Urban Conservationist for USDA- Natural Resources Conservation Service in Texas.
The meeting will be held Monday August 5, at Barrow Brewing 108 Royal St in Salado.
A get acquainted social is at 5:30 p.m., with the presentation beginning at 6 p.m. and ending with a Q&A until 7 p.m.
The public is invited to attend this highly informative and important discussion on Harvesting Rainwater.
Tichelaar’s duties include current conservation practices to be inclusive of small acres. She works with the field office staff and State Office discipline leads on improvements and provides training to the Texas field staff.
She is a certified planner with 10 years in the agency, the last two years being here in Texas. She started her NRCS career as a Soil Conservationist working with small acre farms in Detroit in 2014. She worked for years in California as a Soil Conservationist (Ventura and LA county) with small acre farms and ranches. She was a District Conservationist in Michigan, as a field office supervisor and conservation planner.
Her position in Texas allows her to work with field office conservation planners and engineers on planning water catchment systems in urban/small acre areas.
